History of First Judicial District CASA Association

CASA was started in 1977 in Seattle, Washington by Judge David Soukup. He had to make a decision to take a child out of their home, and there was no one there who could speak up for that child. He requested support from the community and received an overwhelming amount of support.

First Judicial District CASA Association began in 1994 in Leavenworth, Kansas providing services to Leavenworth and Atchison Counties.

The Child Exchange and Visit Center program began providing services in 1997.

The Child Advocacy Center became a program with First Judicial CASA Association in 2017.

First Judicial CASA Association opened an office in Atchison, KS in 2020.
