Love and Logic: Adults Supporting Youth with Challenging Pasts 

These classes are designed, based on the Love and Logic curriculum, for caregivers of youth ages 6-18 who have been through a traumatic situation and are displaying negative behaviors at home and/or school. Families will receive a workbook and resource guide.

This class is typically court ordered if a child/children have been removed from the home and the parents are working towards reintegration. A court order is not required, anyone can sign up to attend.

Classes Offered

Parenting in the Twenty-First Century

This class is designed for caregivers of all ages of children. This class will help parents and caregivers focus on the different dynamics of the family structure.

This class may be court ordered if there are issues with co-parenting after a divorce or stepfamily problems. A court order is not required, anyone can sign up to attend.  

General Responsibilities As Separating Parents (GRASP)

The class as presented is designed to help attendees understand how the things angry and hurt adults say and do to each other can hurt the children they both love.  The goal is to guide parents to find insights and strategies to enable them to work together to raise their children.

This class may be court ordered for parents who are separating.  

Classes Will Cover

  • Building a solid foundation of attachment

  • Dealing with defiance and difficult behaviors

  • Drug & Alcohol Prevention

  • Positive parent and child communication

  • Setting limits without power struggles

  • Supporting learning and achievement at school

Class Details

  • Classes start about every six to eight weeks

  • Participants must attend all classes in succession in order to successfully complete the class
  • Childcare is not provided during classes
  • Cost is free for Leavenworth and Atchison county residents
  • Only 8 participants allowed per class at this time

Class Options

  • 3 Saturdays from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM

  • 5 Monday evenings from 6:00 PM to 8:30 PM

Class Details

  • GRASP Class is offered three times per month

  • 2 hours long

  • Held in the Training Center at the Leavenworth CASA Office

  • Childcare is not provided during class

  • The days classes are offered vary each month – please call or email for specific dates available

  • $30 fee for the class (cash only)
